UNM 2014

UNM is a yearly touring Nordic festival that features the most prominent emerging composers from the Nordic countries. The judging panel this year consisted of composer Anna Þorvaldsdóttir and violinist Una Sveinbjarnardóttir. This year these composers have been chosen to present Iceland at Malmö in August:

  • Bára Gísladóttir – Eldtungur í Vaðlaheiði
  • Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir – Dálás
  • Finnur Karlsson – Hrafnaþing 
  • Gísli Magnússon – Work for clarinet and percussion
  • Hafsteinn Þórólfsson – Þjóðsaga
  • Halldór Smárason – átt, f. orchestra
  • Haukur Þór Harðarson – String Quartet No. 1

Ung Nordisk Musik (Young Nordic Music, UNM) is a Scandinavian music festival that has established itself as one of the most important venues for young composers and performers within the music scene in Scandinavia. It gives composers and performers experience in collaboration and strenghtens the Scandinavian network both personally and culturally. The festival has been held annually since 1946 and circuits the five countries that are involved; Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
